Re: concerted effort or just coincidence?
<<zino's cited group never, and I mean NEVER, miss an opportunity to spin a fact, statement or opinion to the negative. >>
feeling a bit left out because i did not see my name on zino's list.... :-(
i think you raise an interesting point, and one i have asked muself during introspective phases. and speaking for myself only, here is what i concluded.
on a typical board, and DNDN is certainly in the mainstream on this, there is an active and vocal group supporting the bull side of the argument. there are also some on the bear side. for myself, at current price levels i lean towards the bull side. (i am NOT a permabull though. as the stock price increases my enthusiasm reduces, and as the stock price declines my enthusiasm increases.) also speaking for myself, as i have posted ad naseum, my main objective is to collect accurate information and informed speculation identified as such, or as i like to style it, Truth, whether it be favorable or unfavorable.
now when a mindless basher says something really wrong or really lame, i rarely (on this board) would post to contradict. why? because i know there are any number of posters very eager to correct and negative statements that are incorrect. any contribution i could offer would be redundant. but i have noticed many of the bulls, so eager to correct misstatements on the negative side, not only do not correct misstatements in a positive direction, but actually give a rec to utter nonsense, thus endorsing the nonsense. there does need to be a counter-balance there, and therefore my comments may on the whole be taken as excessively negative by those who are unable to understand the rationale.
think about it. how many recs does a poster get from posting something like 'this POS is going to zero tomorrow', which is utter nonsense? zero. not one person, even the elite group cited by zino, would give a rec to such a post. now take an equally silly post saying 'this stock will hit $50 within a month an $400 within 18 months', which is equally absurd. do you think this post would also attract zero recs? i do not.
