Re: Today's "decline"I listened to the entire call and made sure that I cancelled all meetings in the morning so that I could have my undivided attention set. Here are some of my thoughts: The Good: 1. The presentation was well done and professional, significantly better than the gong show that happened after the Orladeyo approval. 2. The data that was presented was very good. Having said that there is still a long road to haul. 3. All the participants that were presenting did a great job. Even the patient was well spoken and delivered the key points succinctly. The Not So Good: 1. I believe that management through their previous excitement and comments like "we have an embarrassment of riches" inadvertently pumped up the market with unrealistic expectations to expect HUGE news which just didn't materialize. 2. Not any mention of Orladeyo uptake or any kind of snippet which again I believe the market was anticipating and didn't get. 3. Expectations that Factor D will be in clinic and then approved less than 2 years was being bantered around the twitterverse and StockTwits so much so that it led to sell the news. Now let's be clear, management did not ever say that but expectations were very high and not realistic. Having said that. I was quite happy with what I heard yesterday. The data is strong albeit still very early. I have said this many times, I'm in this stock first and foremost for Orladeyo as it is now approved and will be generating revenue as we speak. It's not to say that FactorD is not a potential home run, but it will not materialize until at least strong Phase2/3 data is published. When that happens and if it is strong, then we can start to work backwards on NDA/BLA timing and when this may start to add to revenues. BCRX is still my 2nd largest holding and this drop is not phasing me at all. Let the air come out of the bubble and let this trade on fundamentals that will materialize in the next 6-9 months. Best of luck to all Charles |
