Re: MIT Technology Revies article on "Custom cancer vaccines" No, no , no. In the English vernacular, someone described as a 'complete twat' is somewhat synoymous with the American 'tool' I suggest. It is gender non-specific, and in fact is most often used in respect of males, as a general derogatory term, particularly in the case of those with inflated self-regard. I think its original slang/vulgar meaning of a part of female anatomy has been somewhat relegated, at least over here. Of course the history of using the terms for body parts as an insult, goes back to Anglo-Saxon times. How would you define the American use of 'tool' and what is the derivation of the term? I think it's really rather good actually, since I heard Ex describe somebody as a 'complete tool'. (Think it was you Ex.) Anyway, that chap in the picture, what was his name, Iced Tea, or something, certainly seems to fit either term. |
