When the system gets overloaded the power stops. That's just reality. 
 
{{And trotting out these pictures of congestion at a Supercharger is ridiculous when you consider most charging is done at home and these backed up lines are exceptions.}}
 
Like I said, saw the same thing this summer at Banff. About the same lineup.
 
More a lack of stations than anything else. Still, I see the supply of electric vehicles growing far faster than the charging stations, so I expect to see more long lineups in the future until supply meets demand. Also a surcharge on electricity to make up for revenue lost from the gas tax.
 
Dunno for sure, but I'm guessing both towns have only one charging station each. To be fair, when I go for gas there's almost always a lineup as well. 
 
I'm all for electric, but I do see some of the likely bottlenecks.
