This is one of the reasons I only invest in mortgage companies through their preferreds. Currently hold NYMTN which sells for about $20 offering a yield on cost of around 10%. Not callable until 2027 and with a 25% capital gain if called. Also, it's cumulative which means if any dividends are skipped, they need to be made up before any yields can start up again. As I see it, I'm just betting they stay in business.
