YTD Results - the ETF portfolio
As I mentioned, in one of my inherited IRA accounts, I wanted to run an experiment to see if selected ETFs would outperform a portfolio made up of high yield dividend stocks that I have typically invested in. I tried to find ETFs that were focusing on industries of the future. Here are the YTD results. I got lucky and waited to buy most of these ETFs after the March plunge so some may argue that they have similar results with high yield.
Total gain YTD = 16.4%
HIPR +0.39 (this ETF just came out a couple of weeks ago)
Of course, if I just bought TQQQ, that is up 16% YTD and a TRIPLE off the March bottom.
My other portfolios are up and down. MSFT continues up (should have just bought more). The laggards continue to be FRO, NYMT, NRZ and TRGP but some of these have recovered off their bottoms.
Dividends are at an all-time high, mostly due to putting money to work in dividend paying stocks, muni CEFs, and a few high yield plays to offset the large decline in money market rates.
