Re: TA: LABD - how's that going? 2/6,2/19 Forensic Pathology .... Gooney birds ?When it was posted (with the Rules of Engagement), the End of The Bioworld was thought to be near at hand by several MB luminaries. This chart was designed to plot the Safety Zone for that kind of thinking. And, if one looks at those Rules, one can see that as the World continued to turn, there was an equally apparent way to back out of the Dark Side . That rip chord /ejection seat moment has now been plotted ( as of some time ago, if anybody was watching). This now becomes as good illustration of how a chart can be used to both get in and get out of a stock without months of suffering. One of the coolest stories that I ever learned about WWII was about the guys flying Relief Supplies to China by going over the Himalayas ( from India, known as "flying the Hump")) The mountains were so high, and the DC-3's so loaded to the gills, that they had to fly in lower altitudes through the valleys and between the peaks. The terrain was extremely rugged, with one set of narrow valleys often indistinguishable from the next, so the pilots would sometimes start to fly the 'wrong' valley. Once a pilot discovered this, and unable to turn the plane around, the pilot would throttle down on both engines until the oncoming wind would push the plane backwards out of the valley. Think of TA as a "gooney bird." |
