Re: Week 84 // Quick Review Before Final TallyThe post about late hour volatility in the markets proved prescient as that is precisely what happened in the last 30 minutes of trading as the DJI lost 500 points as several of the theses were taken out in the last minutes. So here is the lesson learned from the lack of floor traders who smooth out volatility in the last 30 minutes of trading: Be prepared to close out positions if signs of a spike upwards or downwards threatens their theses. Don't wait for the pps to head above or below your thesis threshold; instead close or roll the position. I chose to roll many of these for the mere fact that volatility is so high that 'opposite' trades can be executed next week for rich premiums if need be in case your thesis for the following week doesn't look like it will work. While Covid-19 is at work on the NYSE trading floor I will from now on post a message to 'close out positions in stocks X, Y, and Z to avoid last minute thesis breakage'. Final tally to come later this w/e. Cheers. |
