Re: Class C malls
I don't know but suspect some or most may be owned by individuals. Think of old malls in bad parts of town or just the only mall in town that has mostly gone dark as the anchor(s) has skedaddled. I'm familiar with one mall in cetral Florida that was developed by Simon. It's actually in a desirable part of town and the anchors are still operating. Problem is that nobody goes there, small shop spaces are largely vacant, bank took back on a non-recourse loan. I don't know what the heck they're going to do with it as redevelopment costs would make most alternative uses out of reach. I personally would not own cbl, though I think their malls are mostly considered class B.
