Re: Yahoo Board
Howdy Mawchek,
Great to here from you.
You know, I have been in HIMX so long that I am probably not that objective anymore. I hold less than I have in the past but it is still a significant amount of my portfolio. Trading is not my strong suit either but you sure can make a bundle here if you were good at it. The buy/sell 7/11 strategy sounds like a good one but that may have shifted upwards somewhat. My share count has gone up and down through time but don't know if it was much beneficial or detrimental to my cause. Looking back in 2017 I have bought and sold huge price range. Personally, I hold my shares for the prospect of one of the new product efforts to hit fruition. Like you, I also have lost much hope on meaningful contributions from AR/VR. The next one on the horizon is concerning wafer level optics. Unfortunately, I am not a high tech guy so I can't evaluate where they will fit in with the other competitors and potential customers in the market. The company seems sound enough and near the leading edge of technology but unfortunately is ahead of market demand at the moment.
Another stock in a similar situation is also a Taiwanese company SIMO. It is by far my largest holding. They are looking to sell controllers for SSDs (solid state drives). The price just dropped sharply on no news. The two main concerns are customer concentration for an existing product line and high memory cost preventing customers from expanding their solid state drive sales.
Even with the wild swings, I have made a bunch of money so far on both even though it has not been a very smooth ride.
Keep me up to date on your thoughts here.
