Pioneer Natural Resources Considers Acquiring Range Resources, Bloomberg Reports

--Oil and gas explorer Pioneer Natural Resources Co. is considering an acquisition of Range Resources Corp., Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

--Pioneer is weighing a deal for the smaller U.S. rival as it seeks further consolidation in the shale industry, the report said.

--Deliberations are ongoing and there's no certainty the companies will reach an agreement, Bloomberg reported.

--A representative for Pioneer declined to comment while Range couldn't immediately be reached for comment, according to Bloomberg.
