One problem with that is those DSL customers, still with telecos, are not at metro/urban areas.
Those areas are under attack by FWA. And the the cost of laying fibers are more expensive than metro. Reason why LUMN is losing 100K DSL customers. It could be at those 20 states.
The fighting grounds are still at metro. Pricing might be at teleco's advantage, but Marketing/CapEx/low valuation is not doing Telecos much favor..
In my area, I can see FYBR's ads all the time. But they are advertise for Gig service for $75. I don't think that is a great idea to start with, because there are very few need Gig service. $50 for 500M up and down is a better strategy.. Or give them a year service of Gig at $50 promotional rate, after a year, if consumer doesn't want it, they can down grade to 500M up and down for $50... Maybe consumer will decide to keep 1G after a year.
Even the technician told me no need for 1G, not able to use it.
