Re: NYCB, was up over 40% this morning
Absolutely! I am overall in the red! I'll just sell it now.
Hard to remember it was so long ago. But I think when I first bought it the share price was like $13. And the dividend yield 7%. Shares went over $17 if I recall. And from the beginning all dividends got re-invested.
Worries about the dividend might be cut and earnings not being up to expectations led to prolonged share price decline.
Cramer, back some years, seem to say a takeover by a larger bank is essentially inevitable. So I figured a pop would happen when a buyout was announced. That never happened.
Bank of Hawaii on the other hand, I put more money into it. Bought that below $50 per share. About $45 I think, 10 years ago about. It had a good reliable dividend and shares gradually climbed over the years. It went to $90, even over $90. Now it is back down to $50 with this latest "crisis" going on. So most of my gain there went away.
But my biggest bank holding by far is BAC. These others are just peanuts by comparison. Also have some JPM which is about 10% of what I have in BAC.
