Calpine and GE Renewable Energy Complete Santa Ana Storage Project in Southern CaliforniaEnergy Monitor Worldwide Calpine and GE Renewable Energy Complete Santa Ana Storage Project in Southern CaliforniaCalpain and GE Renewable Energy today announced the completion of the Santa Ana Storage Project (SASP) in Southern California. The project includes a 20MW / 80MWh (4 hours) stand-alone battery energy storage system using GEs reservoir energy storage technology. The system, which is currently in commercial operation, is supported by a 20-year resource sufficiency power purchase agreement (PPA). The project can energize up to 12,000 households during peak events and / or 24,000 households under normal load conditions. This grid-connected battery energy storage system represents a major step forward in plans to expand Calpains energy storage footprint. The SASP facility itself will be significantly expandable in future phases. Alex McCuller, Senior Vice President, Western Calpain, said: Calpain already operates the worlds largest geothermal facility in California, and this state-of-the-art battery storage project represents another major investment in meeting the increasingly electrified global clean energy needs. We are proud to work with the GE and Santa Ana communities to introduce you to the latest energy storage solutions. The energy storage system provides targeted local capacity to increase the reliability of the grid during peak hours, added Mike Bowman, Chief Technology Officer for Renewable Hybrids at GE Renewable Energy. Also, as a fast-acting stabilizing device, the battery energy storage system rapidly charges and discharges to adjust the frequency, contribute to the stability of the grid, balance and promote the constant penetration of fluctuating renewable energy. Helps to do. These assets will help reach Californias goals of 60% by 2030 and 100% by 2045. GEs Reservoir is a flexible and compact solution that combines GEs advanced technology with expertise in plant control, power electronics, battery management systems, and plant electrical balance. All of this is backed by GEs Performance Guarantee. |
