Beware of Citi RewardsBeware of Citi Banks rewards. First, find out your billing cycle date. It begins as soon as the card is approved, so by the time you get the card, approximately 10 days to two weeks have passed in your first billing cycle. Your first bill will come about two weeks after you get the card. Second, my card was stopped twice for “fraud protection” within the first 60 days, once after trying to order something for about $50 from Amazon.com. The excuse was this was not part of you’re “normal” shopping habits. How could they know my “normal” shopping habits when I just got the card about a month ago? What, I’m never going to order nothing on-line? The second time my card was decline was about a week later, after I already successfully cleared the card and used it at another store. This time it was for under $40 at a store within 15 miles from my home where I already used the card before. I pay my credit cards out in full each month. In my opinion, this is a gimmick that Citi is using to try to keep me from cashing in on the reward they advertise ($250). However, I am very close to their $2K limit and will get there within this billing (2nd) cycle.
By the way, I own Citi stock as well. Unfortunately, it’s currently below my purchase price.
Funny how these banks couldn’t give the money away fast enough before the housing-crash and now J.P. Morgan got caught screwing up. Wonder how deep Citi and the others are into Europe?
The last thing I want to say is did you notice they never talk out the state debts anymore (California, Illinois, Nevada, Florida, NJ, etc…). Think you’re 401K is safe? How do you think the states finance themselves? How are you getting 3 to 4% from “government” bonds? At one time Gingrich wanted to let the states go bankrupt, guess who wouldn’t get paid. We’re not out of this financial disaster by a long shot. This has been building for decades. I could go on an on.
Some my think I’m paranoid, but I wonder how many others got screwed with Citi rewards. |
