NYT Magazine article Sunday (Mirage of Wall Street, by Joan Wong) writes that the stock market is thriving so in view of pandemic, shutdown etc., because it does not include small businesses; historic stock buybacks; diminishing number of companies trading; vast majority of shares owned by large/wealthy investors; those investors don't need cash and are looking two or three years down the track and buying what they see as bargains. |
