Re: Did Trump blink or did he move to forestall WW 111
I agree with most of your points. My concern is not just with the trade negotiations but the chinese hard line hegemonists - their unique version of the neocon thinkers. They are saying America is sponsoring and inciting the flare up in Hong Kong. Whether their assertion is accurate is not germane. They are using it to block the resolution of the trade war between china and the usa.
If the chinese hardliners continue on this path they might well precipitate a vicious no holds barred trade war and possibly WW 111. Ergo Trump's soft reaction on Hong Kong and the delay in the implementation of some of the tariffs. He is taking some of the sting out of the hard liners wrath.
As in world war 11 once events start escalating the ability to get control of them again is lost. As mad as many thought the war was no one was able to stop it. The madness had to run its course. So I support trump's move ...
And I also expect that china and the USA have begun a cold war. The chinese are not the soviets however. i will be difficult to isolate them as they have the industrial might which is probably larger than america's right now. They lag in technology but their whole planning involved becoming the technologically superior nation by 2024 was it... China is a competitor and the moronic globalists were the ones who handed them the west's technological and industrial legacy that they have turned into the biggest economic miracle ever.
Cold wars don't have to be shooting wars. Trump's moves on tariffs is clear sighted and conducive to stopping the competition with china from going further down the slippery slope to chaos and war...
in general that is my thinking. I agree with most of the rest of what you said.
