Re: Sarepta announces retirement of Sandesh Mahatme - but it doesn't sound like the traditional retirement rheteroic.
You could easily speculate that Howton and Sandy might be selling (some!) and leaving because a merger is afoot and "others" will be taking their positions or at least stepping on their toes if they stick around.
They've been splashing around barefoot in Sarepta's little wading (or waiting) pool for years and might not be comfortable in an Olympic-sized, "big time", strait-laced environment that a merger with one of the "big boys" might entail.
If that is indeed the case, the coming future of Sarepta, then I don't blame them for taking the 20 or 30 million and staying cool, no fool.
Or, possibly, Sandy (maybe Ty too) are too conservative for Doug's taste, maybe don't like to dream as big, move as fast. That wouldn't surprise me either.
Just contrast the two of them selling one third of their shares at this level -after a huge 10 or 20 fold gain! - and holding the rest. The sold third is their conservative natures. The other two thirds represents their faith in Dog pulling off his big plans. And contrast that to the man himself who sells not a share and periodically buys a bit more for kicks. Therein may lie a incompatibility "going forward" that might crimp Doug's style. If so, let's hope Doug retains SOME of the conservative instincts - never abandoning the sighting of the pitfalls out there - that got us to this point.
