SiFive and RambusSiFive is obviously a major leader in the RISC-V movement, but unfortunately, SiFive is a private company. In my opinion, If the RISC-V movement becomes widely accepted, SiFive and their Investors will likely capture the vast majority of the economic benefit. But the relevant question is, will Rambus Shareholders benefit significantly from RISC-V? Perhaps, but in my opinion this current management crew has done an absolute pathetic job of explaining to shareholders what the RISC-V business strategy is, and HOW it will generate significant revenue for shareholders? For example, just look at the last analyst conference (or ANYTHING else that has come forth since then). In my search for significant (relevant) clues (rather than wild speculation smothered in hope), here is a couple of interesting tidbits Rambus shareholders might find interesting. However, keep in mind that what follows also likely falls into the category of not necessarily relevant. First, Mark Horowitz is a technical advisor to SiFive, along with a lot of other major heavy weights from the tech industry. Go read their bio’s. Second, here is a video from a couple of years ago showing Paul Kocher giving a HIGHLY detailed lecture to SiFive engineers on the Spectre and Meltdown security risks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqIavX_SCWc However, unfortunately this highly detailed lecture to SiFive engineers came a little over six months after Paul quietly slipped out the back door of Rambus, while Ronnie apparently felt his departure was not significant enough to inform SHAREHOLDERS back in May of 2017! I think it is also interesting to note the comments from Megan Wachs at the beginning of this SiFive lecture while introducing Paul Kocher (obviously a big fan of Paul). Apparently, Miss Wachs was previously hired by Paul Kocher back in the CRI days. If I understand correctly, Miss Wachs also became a Rambus employee when CRI was acquired by Rambus, but apparently she also slipped out the back door at some point, just like Mr Kocher (no doubt probably after all of their incentive stock options fully vested). In any event, getting back to the relevant issue, will any of this ultimately help Rambus shareholders? Who knows? In other words, WHAT THE HELL is going on with RISC-V? In my opinion shareholders deserve to know, or perhaps Mr Horowitz can convince SiFive management (and their investors) to acquire Rambus and kick the Board of Incompetents out the door. Or is that just more wild speculation smothered in hope? |
