Re: if rmbs makes over 20 cents a quarter, why does it lose $1.46/year? what will its gaap earnings be in upcoming announcement? eom
i have $268,000+ of vwnex - at vanguard. i got some original windsor after it was closed. then i added - to get it to $100,000 long ago. it did poorly for awhile - banks, large cap value was out of favor. i held and reinvested dividends. turns out stuff like txn, csco - which had very rough times - have risen - and became huge positions - and had huge unrealized gains. i even had gains in rmbs in sep and non sep. i sold the sep shares today. it hit my ask. i wanted to reduce positions of my largest individual stock holdings - but don't want to incur tax liability. turns out i traded in sep, took profits. but, my non sep has huge unrealized cap gains - and now i see some holdings are too big a % of my portfolio and i have way too much info tech. they could dive before i die. rmbs was the one top holding of an individual stock which i had some shares in my sep. i saw earnings were coming up monday. i saw stock was rising into earnings. i know earnings and earnings calls have been consistently disappointing. i want to reduce risk. earnings are a risk. i put in sell well above the market price - and it got hit and is now a bit higher. also rmbs is riskier than my other top holdings.
