Re: Just a Quick check shows 'over' 35M in US on statins and ~ 200M worldwide
If your view of the need for trials outside of clinical intuition is right, why bother with teaching hospitals or long residency training programs. Let the insurance company statisticians replace specialists, right. Cardiologists are associated with hospitals usually teaching hospitals that do collect and monitor results, but more important is discussions between cardiologists exchanging clinical incite learned from individual patients. Residents and young cardiologists are always looking for research projects to publish. It is possible that Vascepa does have side effects. If something for a group of patients goes wrong, some cardiologist is going to look very carefully at patient records. Who is going to discover and separate out side effects associated with particular medicines?
