They don't "make practically nothing"-----they actually LOSE money on every non-rental sale. As in, hot damn, let's get an order for 20MW and go bankrupt tomorrow.
 
If they were to go to direct sales and fire all they distributors they would actually make a profit. Going from Distributors to Direct would send AT LEAST 10% straight to the bottom  line.
