The choke is most likely to keep the well pressure higher longer and enable a better EUR. Less likely it can be if they think oil prices will be higher later and then they have the option to increase production when the price goes up. I mention this as with the new pipelines to the Permian and thus lower flows to Cushing many Texas operators could foresee at least a higher Q4 local price and also lower pipeline charges. Higher pressure wells and choke lead to higher production and better well flow.
