Catherine J. Boggs Catherine (“Cassie”) Boggs is Vice President and General Counsel of Resource Capital Funds (RCF), a private equity group based in Denver that invests only in the mining sector. RCF invests on a global basis in mining companies with projects developing a wide range of mineral commodities (except for oil and gas). As General Counsel, she is responsible for all of the legal aspects of RCF’s financing, transactional, and regulatory activities, both domestically and internationally.
Prior to joining RCF in January 2011, Cassie served as Senior Vice President-Corporate Development for Barrick Gold Corporation in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. During her time at Barrick, she also served in Pakistan as President and CEO of Tethyan Copper Company Pakistan (Pvt) Limited, a joint venture company of Barrick and Antofagasta plc, acted as the interim Regional President of Barrick’s African Business Unit, and served as the interim General Counsel and Company Secretary of African Barrick Gold plc, a subsidiary of Barrick listed on the London Stock Exchange.
Prior to joining Barrick, she was an international partner in the law firm of Baker & McKenzie serving as the head of its Global Mining Practice group and working in the Chicago, San Francisco, Almaty, Kazakhstan, and the Jakarta, Indonesia offices of the firm. Ms. Boggs was also a partner in the Denver law firm of Sherman & Howard, where she started her mining law practice. Cassie serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Hecla Mining Company. She was President of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation 2012-2013, serving on its Board of Directors and currently is a member of the Trustee Advisory Council. She has a B.A. in Economics and a J.D. from the University of Denver and a M.S. in Resource Development from Michigan State University.
