My Amateur EOY review of WNDWINTRO Here's my semi-annual exercise to see if I remember why I own the stocks I own, and so I can check back and see if their stories have changed. I post in case it helps others too. SolarWindow WNDW (market cap is $0.040B was $0.152B) Solarwindow is a company working from an ingenious idea, produce clear solar cells as a coating that can be applied to windows (but maybe opaque things, too?). Houses are being built with a great ratio to window space to wall space. Office towers are largely glass. Greenhouses are obvious possibilities. It may no longer be necessary to find places to install opaque solar panels and their infrastructure. Even with lower efficiency (which may not be an issue) the total surface area available may create an dramatic increase in solar energy capacity. So why isn't this already an obvious success? Besides the internal reasons and industry constraints I am not aware of, competitors can do similar things with solar windows, not just coatings, wiring all the windows may be a complexity that hinders adoption, or maybe there are issues with weathering (outside) or people accidentally causing problems (inside). One for me to watch. DISCLOSURE Usually LTBH but only bought in recently because another of my stocks was bought out (just as they were becoming profitable). I bought in to redistribute the funds and increase my diversification. (I've also collected links to the other discussion boards and my other stocks over on my blog https://trimbathcreative.net/?p=5915 & from my One Company One Story series on YouTube https://youtu.be/OHjlrqVDztI ) |
