INTRO Here's my semi-annual exercise to see if I remember why I own the stocks I own, and so I can check back and see if their stories have changed. I post in case it helps others too.

Electrameccanica is an electric vehicle company developing and selling innovative cars for commuters, delivery services, as well as car aficionados. Their primary product currently is the SOLO, a single-passenger three-wheel vehicle that is targeted towards urban environments yet is also capable of reaching highway speeds. SOLO can also be sold as a delivery vehicle. Additional vehicles are in development, including more stylish designs.

SOLO may benefit from the fact that, despite significant enticements to carpool, most trips only have one person - and that was the case before the pandemic which encourages less sharing. Even a very eco-friendly car can also be carrying thousands of pounds of excess weight compared to SOLO. Get rid of the excess, drop the size, the weight, the materials, and the cost - and maybe provide an innovative solution that addresses the large market of city-dwellers plus suburban commuters, with a bonus of supporting small businesses who care more about practicality than about appearance.

Innovative doesn't always lead to profitable, but it is the innovators who make the largest improvements to our world - in my opinion.
