Re: Zinc Finger Design AI Tool Opens Door to Large-Scale Gene Therapies Bioimmuno > maybe they are in a "quiet period" finishing up that new deal ![]() This "quiet period" nonsense excuse comes up like twice a week or more often for years now :-) .. The research described in the quoted article is promising, but as noted, they are not there yet: "while promising, ZFs can be difficult to control. Since they are not always specific to a single gene, some combinations can affect DNA sequences beyond a particular target, leading to unintended changes in genetic code. As a result, Noyes said the team next plans to refine its AI program so it can build more precise ZF groupings that only prompt the desired edit. " And of course there is an open question, who will benefit most if/when it is ready for clinic. SGMO may survive long enough, with more and more dilution, but it has show an uncanny ability to let others bypass it in every thing they've tried ![]() |
