Daszak was involved in “gain of function” research and publicly supported it. Daszak, in an email, thanked Fauci for “debunking” the idea that the pandemic arose from a bio-engineered virus. That wasn’t surprising since Daszak helped fund “gain of function” research in Wuhan using NIH grants. He has a vested interest in steering any inquiry away from a conclusion that the virus was a product of genetic engineering at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
My opinion.
It’s not unreasonable to say that in all probability the lab had something to do with the emergence of this virus, but it’s not without a doubt.
