Interesting article in WSJ several months ago discussed the strength of passwords and recent studies using supercomputers. Hacking trials found that the passwords created using the standard rules in place for a lot of businesses for many years now requiring 'an upper case letter, a special character, 8 characters or more' blah blah blah are inherently easy to crack. The article even referenced the guy responsible for creating those rules and he agreed that they were outdated and ineffective. Curiously, passwords using 3 random words were exponentially harder to crack.
