Re: This post from Steve...my take on the pending animal data
Yes to what flucurious wrote. Also, even if a couple of other vaccine companies "appear" to pull ahead via their animal or phase 1 results being better, CEPI is still going to fund numerous vaccines in order to ensure they get at least 1 or 2 that are effective. And I think the NVAX covid candidate will be one of them. Novavax has very good rapport with CEPI, including that:
1) Glenn constantly talks about CEPI and praises them on TV and radio. Most of the time the interviewer doesn't even know about CEPI, but Glenn goes out of his way to bring up CEPI, explain what it is and give it kudos.
2)The Gates Foundation people were a key part of starting CEPI and giving ongoing support for it, and the Gates people like Novavax.
3) Novavax's platform and the types of vaccines it focuses on are a great long-term match for CEPI. So even if Novavax's animal or phase 1 results don't seem as good as a few others, CEPI has incentive to kick some funding towards Novavax's vaccine efforts with Covid because it will improve Novavax's ability to fight future viruses.
