Re: DJ California Universities: Vaccine Mandates Will Go On Forever -- Market Talk
I won't be very surprised if many universities in the future require people to be vaccinated if they want to attend graduation, including friends and family. Ditto for other on campus events that sometimes family and friends come to, or members of the public are allowed to attend. If an unvaccinated person infects a vaccinated person at graduation or other event, a lot of people are going to say things like: why are we allowing these people to put us at risk … when they are choosing to put us at risk. We want to be safe and protected, so they can either get vaccinated or not attend. It's their choice.
Another thing that some will argue is: why are we making our students follow this protocol, but not requiring visitors to follow it. Unvaccinated visitors can cause the same harm as unvaccinated students, so the same standard should be used.
I would guess that some schools will go in this direction before an incident takes place. and others will do it after an incident occurs. Of course it will vary by school and state. It will be interesting to see what takes place.
