I think you're probably wrong. According to Amendment XII,
The electors shall meet in their respective states and vote by ballot for President … they shall name in their ballots the person voted for as President … and they shall make distinct lists of all persons voted for as President … and of the number of votes for each, which lists they shall sign and certify
I don't see any way for that to be turned to allow a state to say "well, they voted for X, but we shall allow those votes to be counted for Y even though Y was disqualified from running in our state".
That doesn't mean it won't be tried, of course.
