korbomite (IBMer) at the SCO Forum in 2003 ... | SCOXQ Message Board Posts
  • TECH UPDATE: Please accept our apologies for the delay in getting our "board visit & message view" counts to normalize. As you may have noticed, starting yesterday the "board stats" for individual message boards started to display clearly erroneous "member" and "guest" visit counts. Needless to say, we don't like having unreliable traffic stats on the site any more than you do. Please understand this was not by design or intention. It's a glitch that resulted from an apparent incompatibility with the legacy code and the recent deployment of new servers to tackle issues related to last month's outage. In order to give our web developer a chance to take a closer look at the glitch and come up with a viable solution, we have decided to leave the code up for now so she can have real-world data to work with (rather than just turn the counts off again). So it looks like we may have to live with these bad counts a little longer, but our expectation is to have this resolved by early next week, if not sooner. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Not a delay...capitulation.

The whole reason for this is twofold:

1. The burn rate and the absolute trashing they're taking worldwide (except in the clueless and US biz and pop media) PR-wise. They have to say SOMETHING in July...even if it amounts to nonsense.

2. The fact that, like all companies in the software sector, they have to have a "users' conference." Classically, this is primarily a tout session for SCUMX (has been the last 3 years). It allows them to sell more licenses and renew those already sold. This one is August 17-19 and is called SCOFOrum. Has a James bond theme.

http://www.sco.com/2003forum/

Didn't work very well last year, since most of their licensees were more concerned with the Caldera Linux products and guidance for the transition from SCUMWare. The general consensus was that they were falling further and further behind. That's why IBM's announcement to eventually scrap AIX for Linux and their "Unix is dead" comments at the subsequent LinuxWorld so angered McBride and Co. But they weren't ready.

This Forum, they MUST answer ALL the questions, especially of their developers and platform partners. Right now, to have ANYTHING to do with SCUMX, ESPECIALLY as an employee, partner, ISV or developer is a death sentence in the IT world.

They moved too fast with IBM and they cannot sustain their rate of burn without further sales or licensing, things they will not find at this Forum, anymore than at the last.

>>>>>The most feared and strongest company sues SCO and the stock doesn't even go down a buck<<<<<

Why would you fear IBM? I don't. They deal fairly with their customers, employ thousands, and have a real business...they are the only major company to survive the bubble relatively intact. Is it because you KNEW this was coming, you just expected that it would take them longer (being as big as they are) to get their ducks in a row?

>>>>>The street has faith in SCO; nobody panicked and the stock isn't crashing.<<<<<

The street has nothing to do with it. This is hopeess losers, and SCOX shills and illegal proxies painting the tape at the end of the day as they have for the last 2 weeks. MORE SURPRISES FOR SCOX LONGS COMING!!!!

>>>>>Considering the volume, 97 cents down is nothing.<<<<<<

RHAT, IBM, LNUX - real business all UP far more. Considering the volume, the painters couldn't get the price up to a flat day. Volume is VERY LOW for such a story and short momentum is growing, by NASDAQ estimates.

Bottom line, you longs have lost every penny you put in and then some, since the 21st of July, when these criminals you are allied with announced their "copyrights."

>>>>>Up tomorrow heading into earnings. Good things to come!<<<<<

DOWN tomorrow, as the few sane investors left desert this road-kill and the tape painters grow more and more powerless with the growing short sentiment on SCOX in the market.

DOWN more when SCOX disappoints on earnings (maybe a bump until SANE investors can do the math). DOWN again, when the press sees the joke that will be the SCOForum in Vegas.

DOWN and DOWN and DOWN as more people wise up to what Canopy is actually doing...DOWN and DOWN and DOWN with each new surprise from the side of those who are RIGHT, moral and ethical, instead of these criminal stock manipulators!

If anyone wants to really DO something about this...

SCOForum is next week in Vegas...Make up some anti-SCO t-shirts and go stay in the MGM Grand, where the Forum is held, making sure to be VERY visible to the press that will surely be there...

...those of us 5th columnists that will be there will have more surprises coming for SCOScum at their Forum.

Dates are August 17-19, 2003 at the MGM Grand.

tomorrow..

Don't forget that they initially today were said to have posted a notice that they would be postponing SCOForum. A question about that would be nice...

Rumour was they WERE going to postpone because this one is shaping up to be more dismal than last years (something I wouldn't have believed last year), but MGM Grand wouldn't let them out of the contract and were full up for the rest of the Fall season.

Other rumours were that lawyers were going to outnumber the IT folks and that fifth-columnists and LUG members were going to prove to be an embarrassment...of course they don't know what's coming and won't until it happens!!!

IBM alludes also to Hobbs Act violations and may begin to pressure state AGs to criminally prosecute the company...look for action from New York on this, if there is an interest in shareholder fraud, and protection from the CA and NC AGs, as well as NY on Organized Crime and conspiracy to defraud charges...also Federal charges after the SCOForum...

Navy...minimal fruit salad...just bookmarks and what you got for "been there, done that, fer sure"....I pre-date you and was a purple-hat for longer than anything else.

Get away from "left" and "right"...American politics seem more to be about whose team you're on and who will win, rather than what is right or wrong and the best man or woman for the job. Left and Right have to do with where you sit in the Legislative meeting place of our government, and my observation is more of them cross the aisle more regularly than the terms would allow.

My politics is from the heart and from experience...most politics in the VFW/Legion hall is about teams...more applicable to football, not who controls the purse strings...the rich are getting richer, the poor are getting poorer and the Government wants the middle class dead, dead, DEAD...that has been true since Reagan.

As for the SCOForum: will be a return to my favorite and the most honest US city...double fun because of my cause and what I will ACTUALLY be doing there.

1. The United States, for all the tax money we've spent on security and the air travel infrastructure, has the worst public air transport system in the world.

2. These (SCOX/ixorg) people are very serious...and very scared.

3. ixorg has completely abandoned Linux, to the consternation of many of its members.

4. There is a very good reason the SCOForum's sponsors' list is no longer available.

5. These people haven't a clue why those of us who are so angry with them ARE so angry...the mood at the reception was a combination of "deer in the headlights" and "going to the mattresses."

6. IBM puts on a MUCH better show in the same venues without even trying...and these people were trying HARD.

Once again, you idiot, we don't play here...we don't recommend playing...the only ones getting rich are the Insiders.

Any play here supports SCUMX, no one else.

We see your bosses' stock manipulation every day the market is open, yoyo.

We know your bosses lied in their case here in the US. They admitted by stipulation to that fact in Germany, before a court, in public.

They lied about the code they say was 'stolen' at SCOForum. They lied about the "rocket scientists". They lied about the "hacker attacks".

Your bosses have lied and you have lied...additionally, you misquote and misunderstand what is in articles you post, when you give links.

You sir, are a shill and a fool, and you prove yourself the bigger fool every time you post.

Darl has called Linux developers "terrorists" repeatedly. He said it 3X at the Monday morning SCOForum Marathon SCUMFest. It made my day. It made my week.

Darl, Stowell, Sontag and Yarro have all accused Linux "developers" of being thieves. They allege that Linux is 90% UNIX IP. In other words, we stole all the work we have been doing for the last 12 years.

In reality, what SCO is trying to do is claim Linux as theirs and steal it for themselves. With no work. With no investment in the technology.

Stupid Darl...you don't get our code for nothing...and you'll never get it exclusively, so give up.

SCUMX uses an Indian Insurance Company (the largest or second-largest, I believe) as a "Success Story."

They converted to Linux two years ago. The day the SCOForum started, it was announced this Insurance Company was converting and dumping the last of their SCO/Caldera and Windows servers and going completely to Linux, even on the desktops.

The "Success Story" is still on SCUMX's web site. I believe it is #33.
