Recs: 1 >>I think sco needs to be careful. IBM could stop supporting informix on the SCO platform.<< IBM will do nothing of the sort. IBM is a company that can be trusted. IBM would never screw over their customers in that manner. You must be ignorant to think that IBM would ever behave like SCOX. IBM will never bring themselves down to that level. ------------------------------------------------------------ The text of this Yahoo Message Board post has been licensed for copying and distribution by the Yahoo Message Board user "walterbyrd" under the following license: License: CCL Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike v2.0 ------------------------------------------------------------ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Message ID: 12885 Posted By: walterbyrd Posted On: 2003-06-13 10:18:00 Subject: Re: informix on sco platforms.... Recs: 1 Forget it. I know IBM, I've even worked for IBM - as a contractor 5 years ago. IBM does not just pull the rug out from under their customs. Certainly not just to get back a pissant annoyance like SCOX. Forget it, it's not going to happen. ------------------------------------------------------------ The text of this Yahoo Message Board post has been licensed for copying and distribution by the Yahoo Message Board user "walterbyrd" under the following license: License: CCL Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike v2.0 ------------------------------------------------------------ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Message ID: 281800 Posted By: walterbyrd Posted On: 2005-07-15 09:38:00 Subject: Re: IBM Officially Kills OS/2 Recs: 1 >>Some sad news to go with the happy SCOX news.<< What's sad about it? OS/2 never caught on. In the last 8 years, at least, few people were even aware of it's existance. I was doing some contract work at IBM about 7 years ago. They had a few OS/2 4.x machines. Frankly, they sucked, froze up all the time. In the early 90's I think IBM could have really done something with OS/2, if they had marketed it correctly. Unfortunately, IBM badly botched the marketing, and lost out to windows. Since then OS/2 has been a zombie. ------------------------------------------------------------ The text of this Yahoo Message Board post has been licensed for copying and distribution by the Yahoo Message Board user "walterbyrd" under the following license: License: CCL Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike v2.0 ------------------------------------------------------------ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Message ID: 353265 Posted By: walterbyrd Posted On: 2006-03-12 11:28:00 Subject: Re: OT: osnews bashes groklaw Recs: 1 >>So how the hell could IBM use Vista even if it wanted to?<< I think it is about the desktops that IBM uses internally. When I worked at IBM, as a contractor about eight years ago, they gave us OS/2 for our desktops. ------------------------------------------------------------ The text of this Yahoo Message Board post has been licensed for copying and distribution by the Yahoo Message Board user "walterbyrd" under the following license: License: CCL Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike v2.0 ------------------------------------------------------------ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Message ID: 388806 Posted By: walterbyrd Posted On: 2006-07-10 08:35:00 Subject: Re: IBM introduces Notes client 4 Linux Recs: 0 As much as I support IBM in their fight against scox. I can not understand why anybody would want Lotus Notes - on linux or anything else. IBM sometimes has a habbit of beating dead horse. IBM kept developing for OS/2 long after it was clear that it was going nowhere. I haven't used Lotus-Notes in some time. But Notes would have to be very different for me to want to try it again. ------------------------------------------------------------ The text of this Yahoo Message Board post has been licensed for copying and distribution by the Yahoo Message Board user "walterbyrd" under the following license: License: CCL Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike v2.0 ------------------------------------------------------------ |
