>>walterbyrd says: Man banned from Linux conference for wearing MAGA cap<<
As is usual for Walter, Walter's post is about 2% of the story, jumping to the conclusions that Walter wants to jump to.
A couple of links:
which is a piece by Cher Scarlett, who defends the LF action. What is clear is that Ms. Scarlett provides A LOT of information that Mr. Byrd's rather shit-ass and very opinionated sources leave out. Ms. Scarlett's document is quite unique in terms of a document presenting a case -- it is interesting reading on those grounds alone, IMO. Her document is pretty long.
Another link is:
which is a piece by Brain Lunduke. Lunduke also fills in a lot more detail, but tries hard to render no opinion. Mr. Lunduke closes his note with the following:
I am keeping my personal opinion out of this article. Just facts, so you can make up your own mind on what, if anything, all of this means. Like any human, I have personal thoughts on the matter... and I discuss them in the corresponding episode of the Lunduke Show.
So. The "corresponding episode of "The Lunduke Show" is found at:
and in that episode (38 minutes), Mr. Lunduke reads the document indicated above, but adds his own opinions to that reading.
Spoiler alert: Mr Lunduke comes down against the LF, but fairly softly. But, although I got the link to Cher Scarlett's piece (above) from Lunduke's article, it doesn't seem to me that Mr. Lunduke actually read Ms. Scarlett's piece, because it seem to me that Ms. Scrarlett brings up some later communications by "the MAGA man" (Charles Max Wood) that would would likely justify excluding him.
Warning: IMO, there is a lot to read, if one is really wants to understand the whole picture. So, if you can't spare the time, my suggestion would be to simly ignore Mr. Byrd and move on. But it is clear that Mr. Byrds post is hopelessly incomplete, and strongly biased. And, as Mr. Lunduke points out, it is less than clear that the MAGA hat was any part of the motivation for excluding Charles Max Wood.
