Re: NYT correction on Kavanaugh story> I am very much in favor of a full investigation that will provide the Senate Judiciary Committee with as many objective facts as possible on which to base their decision. That would definitely include scrutiny of Ford insofar as that could be relevant to her credibility. Unfortunately, it seems increasingly unlikely that this will happen, precisely because the White House and GOP leadership is worried about what that might turn up. I am sorry, but you have this exactly backwards. It is Ford who refuses to testify. Ford saying she wants an FBI investigation before she testifies makes no sense at all. 1. There are no allegations of a federal crime. 2. What could the FBI uncover that Ford does not already know? 3. What could the FBI, or anybody, investigate? She does not know when, or where, this allegedly happened. There are no witnesses, and no evidence. Grassley has been bending over backwards to accommodate Ford. For example, if she will not sit before a senate panel, Grassley will send investigators to her home in California to investigate her privately. It should be very clear to anybody observing this objectively that this all political. Democrats are trying to stall until after November, in hopes of picking up some more seats in the house or the senate, and thereby derail the Kavanaugh nomination. There is no other reasonable explanation. Why else would they have not brought this up last July? >> Grassley, Collins urge Kavanaugh accuser Christine Ford to reconsider apparent refusal to testify Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley and other top Republicans on Wednesday urged Christine Blasey Ford in a letter to reconsider her apparent refusal to testify next week about her decades-old sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/09/19/grassley-collins-urge-kavanaugh-accuser-christine-ford-to-reconsider-apparent-refusal-to-testify.html << >> If Christine Ford Won’t Testify, Senate Should Vote on Brett Kavanaugh’s Nomination The Kavanaugh controversy is rapidly becoming the Ford farce. As you have heard, Dr. Christine Ford, the woman making charges against Judge Brett Kavanaugh, is now saying that she is unwilling to testify until an FBI investigation has been conducted. Lisa Banks, another of Ford’s attorneys, told CNN yesterday, “Any talk of a hearing on Monday frankly is premature.” https://www.lifenews.com/2018/09/19/if-christine-ford-wont-testify-senate-should-vote-on-brett-kavanaughs-nomination/ << |
