>For example, Bannon claimed that Trump Sr. walked Trump Jr. up to the room to interview that Russia lawyer. But it is widely known that Bannon could not possibly have even been there.
That is not what Bannon said. Bannon did not say he knew it happened. Bannon said he could not imagine Trump Jr not doing it. Bannon said he knew Trump Jr. was hungry enough to get a gold star from good old dad, that Jr. would take the golden goose straight to the man.
I think Bannon was probably wrong about it actually happening. Of course, Trump Sr was aware of the meeting. He had even told us to expect bombshell revelations about Clinton after the meeting. However, my reading of the tea leaves is that the meeting did not go quite as well as Junior anticipated. Perhaps, it was because the Russians wanted plausible deniability. Perhaps, it was because the Russians expected concessions from Trump first. For whatever reason, I do not think dirt on Clinton was handed over at the meeting, and I do not think Junior would have wanted to take the Russians to his father's office without something to celebrate.
