Re: the Fed.Something certainly has changed since then. to me, whats changed is the lunancy of man who is willing to pay: $1000 for a so called 'smart-phone' $40000 and up for a pickup truck loaded with bells and whistles when a truck used to be something used for WORK, CARRYING things... cars loaded with friggin screens and technology, bells and whistles designed to replace driver responsibility. Who knows, maybe the bells and whisltles designed to protect against driver irresponsibility is being done so that they can focus on all the other stuff they are paying thru the nose to have.. my daughter bought herself a car right out of college cause she was taught to save and use her money wisely. The best part was, I jokingly told her she could afford a Volvo V40 (believe thats the new 'small' SUV they just released in the last year) for around $40,000 or a more reliable, less costly to maintain Subaru Forester for $24000... To her credit, she didn't even bother to consider the Volvo even tho I told her it was a 'status' symbol, she could claim to be a yuppie.. She made it clear what she thinks of 'false images'... and wasting her money.. houses they really can't afford by normal lending practices/standards. Which is why today when I heard the auto or was it the home lending industry was going to be loosening the lending standards again, I was left thinking, I thought man was supposed to get smarter/learn from their past mistakes.. In short, to me, mankind has gotten dumber, more open to being taken advantage of by slick salesmen and ads and smooth talking politicians... maybe its time to build a 'stupid meter' that lights up when someone is being taken advantage of, and is too dumb to see it happening on their own.. world would be a hell of a lot better off with this technology.. and cheaper to live as well.. and just think, maybe more would have more than a $500 in their checking account.. |
