It's easy to lose sight of just how big the component price difference between the 865 and 765 chips are.
From what I can tell, it's about $150-160 for the 865 and $40 for the 765.
I don't trust my research, because this seems like a big difference.
However, the pre-875 release price discussions are for $250, so maybe the flagship chips just are so complicated.
From the view of a midrange phone OEM, if they can drop $100 in component cost by moving to the 765, and still keep 5G and optimize IRIS, it's a tradeoff that may not be that noticeable to most users.
The full price for the OnePlus 8 in India is $600, vs $700 inb the US. If they drop down to the 765 for the Nord, this already gets them under the $500 that OnePlus has announced.
Hopefully they can find another $100 of stuff to get rid of, + get volume and keep IRIS, to get to $400.
We are likely to see an Oppo version of the Nord -- so if we're in the Nord, we're likely going to show up in a parallel version of an Oppo phone.
