Even you and Mabel have to admit that for a man who had a number of prior meaningful successes . . . . . Kirk lost his magic touch and drank his own kool aid.
Has the loss of his son left a permanent scar on him? Absolutely. Did it have a huge impact on his mental acuity and his ability to make right business decisions? You betcha. No one wants to suffer the loss Kirk has suffered, and I do not wish anyone to be in Kirk's shoes and live through the rest of you life with that horrible thing that transforms your mental state and clouds your judgement. I feel sorry for him.Although I kind of agree he had a few success stories that are older than a decade, I'm not sure if Kirk was lucky before or it was due to his business acumen. I do not know the guy to tell how bright he is. Maybe, he's a very bright businessman. Maybe, he just run out of luck. I do not know. But during the last decade, Kirk made a lot of bad business decisions that negatively impacted XON and its subsidiaries. Kirk still will be a billionaire regardless of these failures. He just won't be mega-multi-billionaire. He will be okay financially if PGEN fails completely. I will never have a chance to call him a "Colleague", that's for sure.
PS. Some of the billionaires are not that smart and bright. Some are plain stupid. But they were lucky to jump into a hot business and make right business decisions at a right time (or, someone else helped them). One of them owns two professional major league sports teams, and he ain't that bright. Cocky? yeah. But who cares -- he's all set for life.
We need a prayer here. Even for a person who's been so negative on XON/PGEN for a long while such I, the current state of the company and the stock performance is soooo depressing...
Rant over.
