You raise a good point . . .. you would think someone might pay at least a few million for the DNA.com website . .. . but . .. . I don't think it was marketed "for sale" independently. . . . . like it should have been.
Instead I think it was "thrown in" as part of the overall package that Kirk was buying.
If the company was trying to maximize the sales price of the assets I think they would have been a lot more transparent about the pricing of individual assets. Could Kirk have taken the individual assets and tried to partner them up with industry specific buyers and effected higher net sales prices ? Like maybe Kirk puts up $10M and gets Orkin to put up $10M and they buy Oxietc together and XON gets $20M for Oxitec. Ditto for the apple business not to mention the Surterra deal, etc. Selling everything for $65M looks like a fire sale to me especially after we have been told for years about those assets having increasing intrinsic value.
But I digress . . . . . . time to look forward and "hope" Helen hits the cover off the ball ! ! ! !
