Kirk is hardly a "hyperbolic carnival Barker". Carnival barkers aren't worth a few billion dollars and none of them can write a check for $100M like he did last June.
Kirk grossly underestimated what it would take to get the MBP program partnered up with a major in the O & G business. The miss-statements that he made a long the way were unfortunate. But . . .. and this isn't a secret . . . . he had zero history or expertise in the field . . .. it is a "first" that no one has ever done. So the fact that he made a few mistakes along the way doesn't surprise me.
But when you are talking about Precigen and Triple Gene . . . . . now you are talking about fields where Kirk does have some real expertise . . . and a very solid track record. No doubt he has some real "pull" inside Merck KG witness the stock swap deal he did with them on the ZIOP deal and he got them to write a check for $25M too.
So just because Kirk was wrong on the MBP program's development. . . . that does not mean his recent comments that . . . . "three months from now Dr. Sabzevari will be here and she will really be the star of the show" . . . . . are wrong.
In fact it could be argued that this is a much "easier" prediction for Kirk to make than when shovels might be in the ground for the first MBP pilot plant. Kirk has a lot of success and experience in the healthcare business . . . . . . . it's a lot easier for me to believe that he really does know what he is talking about here. . .. . and we will probably know in less than 83 days because I expect the share price to start reflecting the progress that Kirk is suggesting in his comments.
If my favorite sceptic, Mabel, is long XON for the Precigen story . . . . there just might be something to the story :)
