Re: OMER showing strengthIn fact, I was one of those "hear to learn from -- and share opinions with -- the members of this board". I was interested in what you wrote about the fundamentals: "Today's weakness in biotech with a concurrent rise in OMER on no news may just represent an unwinding of some of these long/short pair trades. Volume was definitely up today, too. I'd love to be wrong, since the buying could also be accumulation ahead of upcoming news." But I could not see how you could have the data to assert that the move was due to pair-trades. A guess without supporting data is a guess, even if you sold stock to institutions for 30 years. I did note that you were interested in news (presumably about drug candidates or Omidria revenue). Your next post surprised me when, after referring to news making the share price rise, you suggested that fundamentals did not count much anymore: " You are speaking of a bygone era, one where fundamentals dominated investment decisions. The majority of trading today is based upon ETF flows and algorithmic trading, neither of which pays much attention to value or fundamentals." I agreed that the great majority of trading is not based fundamentals but I said I thought the fundamentals still have some relevance because OMER share price was moving up when the Market moved down along with the Biotech sector. This was an attempt to "hear to learn from -- and share opinions with -- the members of this board". I thought it was part of a discussion. It was not meant to be condescending. It was to get an explanation of what seemed like a contradiction. Without seeing facial expressions and hearing phrasing and tone of voice, implying the writer's emotional intent from only the words is less accurate than when the communication is in person. |
