Moderna lost price war in U.S.

It looks to me like Moderna has lost the price war in the United States.

Now the US has contracted to buy enough to vaccinate 100 million people (200 million doses) from PFE and GSK with options at unspecified prices for another 1 billion doses, enough for 500 million people. Assuming all vaccine candidates, including MRNA's, are approved, Moderna is not needed  to vaccinate the entire US population with plenty left over to sell or donate to other countries.

And now PFE has a deal to sell Japan 120 million doses at price not disclosed. And the UK has a supply deal as does the EU.

IMO, if Moderna does not get supply contracts pretty damn soon, they could end up with the best vaccine in the world and nobody who can afford it to sell it to (again assuming multiple vaccines are approved). That leaves countries that cannot afford it to sell it to.
