As I said, a little different.
But, you are wrong when you say "an LCD TV backlit with LED is an LED TV." No, it is an LCD TV. As you (confusingly) noted later when saying "LCD being the underlying tech." They labelled them LED TVs, like mvis and the auto industry are calling MEMS/LBS SS LiDAR. (Only in the case of LiDAR, MEMS is SS at a macro level. The TV label is not correct in any way, regarding technology....the display tech is LCD.)
They didn't label the earlier LCD TVs as "Florescent TV", did they ?
Here is another example (again, not perfect example)............a Tesla is a car. Historically (and mostly still true) cars had/have ICE. Tesla has electric motors. But a Tesla is still a car (with an electric motor). A Tesla is not an electric motor. In this case, nobody markets a Tesla as an electric motor (so not a perfect example). They do market it as an electric car, because the electric factor is a good selling point (to some customers).
Anyway, that is a discussion for another board somewhere.
(Gotta run soon.)
