Re: "Still, for all the technology and likely 100’s of millions of dollars spent, the laser scanning engine produces a terrible image by today’s standards."Guttag found 2 lasers per color - "The HL2 has two lasers per color that are stacked vertically, one pixel apart." s2upid only found 1 - 7 points· 7 hours ago· edited 6 hours ago So I sobered up from 4th of July celebrations and slashed open the legendary green laser diode more elegantly... Does anyone else see only 1 green laser diode inside the can? The obvious conclusion is s2upid's Trimble unit with 2018 on the circuit board is an early production unit as speculated. This appears to confirm that MSFT switched to their own LBS in later units , exonerates KIpman's statements that MSFT invented it , and explains why MSFT doesn't recognize MVIS. Furthermore, there is no compelling reason for MSFT to buyout MVIS as they appear to have their own IP and have licensed the necessary IP from MVIS that would carry through if someone else bought the company anyway . Also , according to Kress MSFT is not a hardware company but instead is interested in selling cloud services. In fact , MSFT would have an interest in licensing their LBS IP as used in HL2 to others to expand hardware use and increase their cloud services revenue . |
