Life is uncertainty, there's no guarantee that anyone will be around in the morning. But we plan for tomorrow anyway.
Investing is all about probabilities and risk. You look for certainty, a probability of 1.0, which does not exist in the stock market. I am willing to bet you are also financially constrained. For $500 you could have bought 2000 shares of MVIS, for $100, the price of going out to dinner with the another couple you could have bought 400 shares. If that isn't minuscule risk to you on the probability they would sell the company or a vertical I don't know what is. I would have gifted you the $500 just to take out all the risk.
You are a sophist, sometimes that is a curse. And that is a fact.
