Took a ride with my wife on Saturday to 1 Casper St, Danbury, the official address of the Mannkind facility. Though we had passed by a few years ago, we were again impressed with the mere size, about 2 square city blocks, consisting of multiple buildings (8?). It is located in a fairly high density populated area in an old part of the city, as opposed to other Pharma companies in Danbury that are in corporate parks or on their own campus like grounds. I am thinking that the city originally gave Al Mann a substantial tax abatement to develop this location.
However, we were disappointed that there was completely no activity to be seen. There are 3 or 4 large entrance gates with guard houses, but all were locked and none of the guard houses were manned. I had been hoping to have a chance to interview an employee, or even a security guard, but it is obvious that there is not enough manufacturing demand to open on weekends.
We saw no signs of any new additions or construction in progress. Will try to stop by again on a weekday if possible. But at 73 years old, I am still working 12 hours a day M-F to make up for some of my biotech losses, and to satisfy our desire to enjoy the better things in life.
