Because Kodak is a chemical company. They MAKE the chemicals that the pharma industry needs to manufacture our drugs. They make them in the US. This is an effort to bring our pharma manufacturing back to the US.
What most people don't know is that about 85% of the chemicals used for the manufacture of drugs in the US are made in China. About 95% of the antibiotics are made outside the US.
Now, consider what would happen if we ever got into a real shooting war with China. Think they would cut off our supply of drugs? You bet.
Don't know your political views, but I give the Administration a lot of credit for trying to fix this problem. We have been sending these manufacturing jobs overseas for a long time, 30 years or more. If there is one thing that COVID-19 has taught us, it is that we need to control our drug and medical supplies.
