My lack of trust is due to my personal involvement of a multiyear negotiation with the Department of Energy and their regulation on our industry.   DOE misrepresented so many things regarding energy usage, savings, and costs to industry etc... The NOPR had some errors that were just basic math, without an industry association to confront them on the nonsense, it would become basic fact placed into the Federal Register.   To this day, I do not believe the errors were made out of stupidity, instead I believe it was an intentional distortion to make it appear the regulations were more necessary than reality.
